Winchester StaBall Match Precision Rifle Smokeless Powder

Winchester® StaBALL™ Match is a temperature-insensitive, double-base, BALL® Powder, stable in extreme-hot or -cold conditions. This powder provides optimal loading density in cartridges appropriate for the burn speed, which is ideal for high-BC heavy for caliber bullets in 223 Remington, 224 Valkyrie, 22-250 Remington, 308 Winchester, 30-06 and many more. Typical of a BALL powder, precise metering contributes to consistent velocity and pressure with lower standard deviations, ingredients that are paramount to match grade accuracy!

 

This REACH-compliant, “environmentally green” propellant has copper fouling reducer additives, which contribute to shooting sessions without cleaning the bore. Velocity levels obtainable, depending on the cartridge, are 50-75fps greater than other propellants in its class. Thus, the StaBALL family provides Stability, Precision and Speed.

Available in 1 lb. and 8 lb. canisters.

    Service is quick and awesome. Developing loads for.308 with 150gr and 165gr SSTs on a Tikka T3X and Bergara Ridge. Started a ladder charge using the 150gr with the Tikka. On the very last charge it came in right at 1 MOA and was continuing to tighten up. I have built the second ladder just short of max change and waiting to hit the range for a preferred hunting load. This propellant looks extremely promising. If so, I am buying another 8lbs. Thank you Powder Valley!

    I’ve had very good results with this powder in a Savage 223 Rem with 26″ barrel, and a precision-oriented AR with 20″ White Oak barrel. There have been very good loads with 55gr bullets, 60gr, 73, and 75gr. In the 20″ 7.5 twist AR, one of the best loads was 24.4gr behind a 73gr Hornady 22774, for respectable 2708 fps. Considering the relatively low cost and good metering, it is one of my best options for this caliber. If it is as temp stable as they say, it would be my first choice, with N140 and Varget as alternatives for specific loads.

    I bought this to shoot heavy for caliper 30-06, not so. I guess I’m shooting too heavy, Berger 215 gr BTHP-M out of my Remington 700 30-06 Long Range, with Area 419 Hellfire Match Self-Timing Muzzle Brake, Arkin 5-25X56 scope, 1.5 lbs of steel pin added to hollow part of buttstock and Trigger Tech trigger set to 1.2 lbs. I do use StaBall65 I shoot this round with and that is a #5 rating.

    Staball Match turned out to be the ideal powder for my application, a bolt action rifle chambered in a 6mm wildcat based on the 6.8 SPC case called 24 Varminter. Using Staball Match I’m pushing the Barnes 112 gr Match Burners in excess of 2800 fps with sub MOA accuracy and single digit standard deviation. Add temperature stability and what’s not to like!
