Winchester 748 Smokeless Gun Powder

WW748 was originally developed during the Vietnam era to replace the grimy propellant the military originally used, which was the primary reason for the function problems associated with the initial field use of the M16. 748 is a relatively clean burning powder that does indeed minimize throat erosion and it is relatively temperature stable for a ball powder. I haven’t found a lot of cartridges it shoots really well in, but one that it does is the 6.5mm Grendel with heavier (130gr. Berger) pills. Posted a 1.15″ c to c 5 shot group last weekend at 300 yards out of a 26″ 5R Liberty barrel with this load. Let he who has eyes see.
