This rest is heavy but max length is too short for avg. Bolt rifle. May work for AR type rifle but not enough room to get detachable magazine out of bolt action rifle. Mag is up against front rest with rest extended to max length. Horizontal adjustment works OK but isn’t solid after adjustment. It has a lot of slop in the front rest. Hard to keep steady. I would not buy again.

i like it being heavy is a benefit for absorbing recoil and once strapped in place movement is minimal,as far as my M1A i can use a short magazine or just remove it this is my first bench vice so compared to others I’ve seen it is very solid and shooting mostly bolt action rifles man I’m tickled pink about the price. assembly was pretty easy but they could have made it longer but for the price i am happy.

For this price point it’s a no brainer. Two issues I came across, (1) The threads in the main tubes were bunged up so I had to chase the threads with an M8 1.25 tap. (2) there is too much play where the large elevation screw attaches to the rifle hold down. I took it apart and put enough epoxy in there to fill all the gaps, no more shakes.
Of lesser mention, there is some play in the windage adjustment, mostly up and down a tiny bit, but with the rifle on it, it’s really not an issue. If it drove you crazy you could fill the holes where the adjustment screws go and redrill them or find some nice tight brass bushings and epoxy them in place.
For 42 bucks, I bought three. You can hardly buy a 15 lb. anchor for forty bucks.
